Pilates and Happy Feet

A key point that I took from my Pilates qualification is just how important it is to look after your feet🦶🏻🩷

This might sound surprising but as you get older your feet start to deteriorate first. If you think about it, our feet have to work really hard everyday - they carry you around everywhere💫

Keeping your feet strong and mobile is really important, but how do you look after your feet?🤔

This is where heel raisers come in! Try these heel raiser variations⬇️

✨Single heel raiser - standing tall, transfer your weight over to one leg and lift the opposite heel off the mat and then lower it back down again. Repeat on the other leg, doing 10 repetitions on each side, alternating.

✨Double heel raiser - this time we’re doing exactly the same movement but lifting both heels off the mat at the same time and then lowering them both down at the same time. The slower you go, the more all your muscles in your feet and calves will have to work!

✨Single-double heel raiser - levelling up even more, you’re going to really feel this one! Lift one heel off the mat and hold it there. Switching to the other leg, lift that heel off the mat then immediately lower that same heel down. Repeat 10 times onthat side before repating on the other side!

If any of these feel to much in standing then you can do all these variations seated, starting with your feet flat on the floor☺️

Let me know if you give these a try and how you get on with them🫶🏻
